Vote “NO” on BB!
Measure BB sticks Pacificans with a 10.875% SALES TAX!
That's the highest in Northern California!
- It's Illegal: A Superior Court Judge (26CIV06367) found on September 3 2026 Pacifica's Measure BB ballot question was illegally “argumentative and likely to create prejudice in favor of Measure BB”.
- Blank check: It's a general tax for “unrestricted general fund purposes”, NOTHING guarantees the money goes to police, fire, 911, beaches, parks or road, and the word “oversight” doesn't appear in the ordinance even once.
- Too Big & Too Long: It's a full one percent, comes just four years after the last sales tax increase, and has no expiration date.
- Unfair: This regressive tax hit seniors on fixed incomes and working families the hardest.
- Hurts Business: BB could push already struggling small businesses to close, and Pacifica was recently rated the worst small city in America to start a business.
- Mismanagement: The city carries about $65.7M in long-term debt and $69.7M in pension liability, built a $12M Civic Center while claiming to be broke, and paid 28 employees more than $250,000 each in 2025 compensation.
- Affordability: Pacifica is already expensive, and the tax would add to rising costs of groceries, gas, rent and utilities. It applies to most purchases, including online orders, prepared food, clothing, fuel and over-the-counter medicine (e.g., $108.75 on a $1,000 phone).
